    Ronan Flynn

I’m an Irish web designer living in Dublin, where I’ve worked for the last 3 years since graduating with a Bsc in Multimedia from Dublin City University. I’m originally from Fermoy in Co. Cork, but I’ve been living in the capital now for over 7 years; currently residing in Dublin 8.

DCUI work for part-time for Pigsback.com, as well as freelancing. If you visit my portfolio, you’ll see some of my recent works – of late I’ve been making a lot of CSS templates, Wordpress themes and website redesigns.

I’m able to work Mac or PC, though most of the work I do is Windows-based these days, using the Adobe Creative Suite CS3.

During my time in college, I worked with video and sound production, basic html websites, E-learning, illustration and graphic design, 3D computer modelling and animation as well as authoring with Flash and Director. We covered quite a broad range of skills in different media, yet the one area I found myself coming back to time and time again was the web. A basic crash-course in html wasn’t enough for me, and soon I was creating hobby sites in my spare time for no reason other than the challenge of it.

As my skills developed; I studied flash animations, better design and improved code. In my 3rd year, I secured work placement with Pigsback.com, spending a total of 8 months there in 2005, before returning to DCU.

Upon graduation, I became a full-time employee as a web designer with their studio team, working as part of a “conveyor belt” process in conjunction with sales, technical and communications teams to meet deadlines with quality results. This experience greatly improved both my design skills and code skills, working with a CMS, becoming familiar with things like ASP and javascript.

In 2007, I began teaching myself CSS design to be able to break free of tables and catch up on industry standards; using my freelance work to learn new tricks of the trade and continue to advance my skills – something that will continue infinitely as the web industry continues to evolve – there’s always new technologies to learn and older techniques to perfect!

On the right hand side of this page you’ll find all my contact information, as well as a link to my CV (download-able as a PDF file).
